Briggs Road Baptist Church (BRBC)
is a large church on the southwest side of Columbus. They have a robust
ministry with events happening on location 4 to 5 days a week. A daily
preschool is also held at the church. High-quality security camera footage is
vital to an active church like this one. It provides peace-of-mind that the
campus is secure and video-documented. On top of that, child play areas like
the gymnasium are essential to be recorded in case of injury or accident.
Problem:
BRBC had a small, degrading security camera system when
they called us. They knew it was time to upgrade. Church staff understood that
accidents in the gym would go unrecorded, and there were a growing number of
car break-ins in the church parking lot.
Solution:
BRBC staff called Security Cameras of Columbus (SCC) to
request a free quote and consultation. An SCC saleswoman met with church
administration on site to discuss potential solutions. Together, they decided
that Uniview 4MP IP Turret Cameras
were the best fit for the job for four reasons:
- Super HD picture! 4MP camera images contain twice as many pixels as your 1080p HD TV!
- Modern, unobtrusive design. Presentation is vital to the appearance of this charming church.
- Economic price-point. Uniview 4MP IP Turrets are our most affordable IP camera.
- Wide angle lens(2.8mm). With a 112° viewing angle, these cameras offer a much wider angle of view than most cameras sold today. This is an often overlooked feature when determining which camera to purchase.
BRBC staff and SCC
collaborated to draw up a detailed map, allowing staff to know exactly which
areas of the church would be monitored. Once the quote was accepted, the
installation was scheduled.
The installation team arrived on time and
began work promptly. Technicians made sure not to disturb the preschool on-site
and cleaned up after themselves as they worked. After the installation was
complete, SCC installers made sure that each camera angle was adjusted
perfectly to the administrations liking. Subsequently, a training was conducted
so that all necessary employees and volunteers understood how to use the
system. BRBC was so happy with their new system that they decided a couple
months later to add more cameras, completing a 2nd phase of
installation!
We interviewed Gary at BRBC to learn his thoughts on the need for high quality security camera systems in churches.
What reason(s) did your church have when they decided to go with a new security camera system?
"We have a large facility (30,000+ square feet) and needed a way to see what was happening in the parking lots and inside the building, especially the exterior doors, without having to walk the entire facility. We also needed to be able to see what was happening overnight and during times when the building was empty. (As a church, we have a lot of time where no one is on sight.)"
Why did you decide to work with Security Cameras of Columbus over any other vendor?
"Based on the size of our facility, other vendors acknowledged that they couldn't handle the size of job we required. The remote viewing technology on our smart devices is what sealed the deal."
How has the new camera system been useful since being installed?
"We have submitted video and pictures to law enforcement for a case involving a car stolen from our lot. We have used the picture capture to log individuals who have trespassed or aggressively panhandled so we know who to keep watch for. Security team is able to remotely view the facility when alarms have gone off, or to check on people when we can't reach them by phone."
